One person killed in shooting on Laney Walker Boulevard, two suspects in custody

UPDATE: Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office have detained 19-year-old Kyadiar Oliver and 21-year-old Madison Lewis Jr. of Augusta in connection to Wednesday’s shooting. According to RCSO, both will be charged with Murder.

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Family Dollar on 825 Laney Walker Boulevard in reference to a deadly shooting on Wednesday afternoon.

According to deputies who arrived to the scene at 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 5, they learned that a male victim had been shot at least one time and was transported to Piedmont Augusta Hospital by a private vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead after he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, according to the coroner’s office. He has been identified as Damien Patrick, 19, from Hephzibah.

The incident is now being investigated as a homicide. An autopsy has been scheduled.

The Criminal Investigation Division is on scene. As the investigation remains active, no further information is available at this time.
