STATESBORO, Ga. () – A teenager is dead, and two others are injured after police said a pre-arranged fist fight turned deadly at a Statesboro apartment complex Tuesday night.

Around 6:54 p.m., Bulloch County 911 dispatchers received calls reporting multiple people shot at the Pinewood Manor Apartments on Packinghouse Road, according to Grice Connect.

One teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and the two others were injured, police said.

One of the teens was transported by Bulloch County EMS to the Statesboro Airport and subsequently airlifted to Savannah for treatment. The second injured teenager was transported by ambulance to a nearby medical center.

Their conditions are currently unknown.

Statesboro Police Chief Mike Broadhead said that the shooter fled the scene before officers arrived. He also said that they don’t have any leads on who the suspect is, but he is considered armed and dangerous.

Police said they believe the incident stemmed from a personal dispute.

“We are actively working this case and pursuing all leads,” Broadhead stated. “Our priority is to apprehend the person responsible for this senseless act of violence and we need the public’s help.  If you have any information on this case, please contact our detectives.”

Statesboro Police Department (SPD) officers, Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies and Bulloch County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene. A heavy police presence will remain at Pinewood Manor Apartments throughout the evening as the investigation proceeds.

There will also be an increased presence of law enforcement at Statesboro High School on Wednesday and possibly for the rest of the weel, a Bulloch County Schools representative said.

The representative also said that the district was informed by Statesboro Police that the incident may involve multiple students.

Anyone with information on this case can contact SPD detectives or their local law enforcement agency. Information may be provided to Senior Detective Cross at 912-764-9911 or by submitting an anonymous tip through the website using the “Submit a Tip” link.
