AUGUSTA, Ga. () – After a few months of delay, the new Belair Middle School will officially open its doors on Monday.

Belair Middle School is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house for all parents and students to get a first look at the new facility ahead of the official first day.

“We’re looking forward just to seeing students smiles on the face. The additional spaces where they’re able to collaborate and enjoy the classrooms,” said Ca’ Vana Lambert, the Principal of Belair Middle School. “We’re excited for the shorter commute to school, and so we’re just happy that they’re actually at the place they have longed to be.”

After a three-month delay of the opening of Belair Middle School’s new building, it will officially be opening on Monday, January 6th, when students return from winter break. Frank Harewood, a parent of one of the students, believes that even though it is later than expected, everything happens for a reason.

“Everything I feel like happened at the appropriate time. It happened at the right time. New year, finish out the old, start something new,” said Frank Harewood, a parent.

Another parent, Cinny Patterson, is happy that they will no longer have to drive a longer commute to school and is excited for her child to have all the resources that the new building features.

“It’s easier for us to commute because it’s closer to home versus being down at Langford,” said Cinney Patterson, a parent. “And then it’s a beautiful school. They have so many more things they didn’t at the elementary school.”

Cody Neilson is looking forward to his child accessing newer technology in the STEM Lab that the former Langford Middle School building did not have.

“The students are going to be able to do better in these facilities strictly because of the fact that they are able to have access and more space to do what they need to do,” said Cody Nielson, a parent.

Faculty and staff see this building as an investment in the students and are excited to ring in the new year in the new school.
