(NewsNation) — Get ready to enjoy a new twist on a classic treat: sugar-free Oreos that you can soon dunk in your milk.
Yes, you read that correctly—no sugar.
Mondelez International, the company behind the iconic cookies, revealed on Tuesday their plans to introduce Oreo Zero Sugar Cookies to the market.

According to the product description, “With Oreo Zero Sugar, you can savor the classic Oreo flavor now without worrying about sugar content! This new offering allows you to enjoy the beloved taste of Oreo while staying aligned with your health and wellness goals.”
This marks the debut of sugar-free Oreos in the United States, although they are already available in Europe and China, the company noted.
Mondelez said consumers are increasingly seeking what it calls “mindful indulgence,” and the new Oreos will fill an existing gap in the market for sugar-free sandwich cookies.
Mondelēz International said it spent about four years crafting the treat to ensure the cookies still offer the classic Oreo experience consumers enjoy. For sweetening, the Oreos contain maltitol, a type of sugar alcohol that’s also found in some fruits and vegetables; polydextrose, a soluble fiber; sucralose, a sweetener derived from sugar; and acesulfame potassium, a synthetic sweetener.
Comparing the nutrition data on Zero Sugar and regular Oreos is tricky, since the serving sizes differ. The biggest difference, though: a serving of regular Oreos contains 13 grams of added sugars, or 26% of the recommended daily amount. Zero Sugar Oreos contain none.
Zero Sugar Oreos and Double Stuf Zero Sugar Oreos will be available at retailers nationwide starting next month.
