ORLANDO, Fla. – In a nod to a century of tradition, Orlando city officials hosted the “Swantennial,” celebrating 100 years of swan boats at the iconic Lake Eola Park, a cherished emblem of the city.

As part of the festivities, a specially designed gold-wrapped swan boat was revealed, the result of a collaboration with Wraps For Less.

This striking golden swan boat is set to be the highlight of the Swantennial festivities, capturing the attention of all attendees.

The event paid homage to the profound legacy and the community bond forged by these swan boats over the decades. Since their inception in 1925, they’ve become an integral part of Lake Eola Park’s charm.

Initially, the fleet began with just two pedal-powered boats, offering rides for 10 cents to children and 15 cents for adults. Today, this beloved tradition continues to enchant both locals and tourists, spanning multiple generations.

On Oct. 3, 1925, Mrs. Bowers of Maitland first requested permission to add a swan boat dock on Lake Eola’s shores. Two months later, on Dec. 1, 1925, the first two swan boats were launched, each carrying up to two dozen passengers around the lake.

“They give families and adults and visitors, and children special moments, and what a wonderful time of year this is. I want to encourage everybody to come down and ride the swan boats,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

Residents and visitors can officially take a ride in the golden swan boat starting next week.
