Laura Mays was traveling with her family to Jamaica and said she was glad they got there three hours early.
“They didn’t want to,” Mays said. “They were like, ‘This is unacceptable, you’re being extra,’ and I was like, ‘Phew, we’re probably still going to make the flight.’”
While Mays’ group was feeling good about their situation, others not so much.
In additional to having her flight delayed because of weather, Kendhal Herron said she was also trying to figure out Southwest’s new bag policy which went into effect this week.
“It’s a little frustrating but, time wise, we get to connect to get home earlier, but right now it’s inconvenient, it’s a mayhem, not enough workers,” Herron said.
The impacts from severe weather could be felt across Central Florida this week.
In Ocala, police said a man was killed on Thursday when a tree fell on him during a storm.
Over in Seminole County, a house caught fire after it was struck by lightning on Tuesday.
