ORLANDO, Fla. – The post-Christmas holiday rush continued to impact operations at Orlando International Airport on Tuesday, as numerous travelers embarked on their journeys home.

Throughout the day, several flights were delayed as airlines worked diligently to manage the bustling holiday traffic. Despite these setbacks, many travelers stayed optimistic, having anticipated the crowds and prepared accordingly.

Passengers flowed steadily through the terminals, with TSA lines extending beyond the usual length. Airport representatives reported that security checks averaged about 30 minutes, which, although longer than typical, were still manageable for most travelers.

William Maxwell, en route to Indiana, commented, “I wasn’t prepared for it, but honestly, as long as I reach my destination by the end of the day, it’s all fine by me.”

Airport officials at Orlando International advised travelers to arrive early, and it seemed many heeded this recommendation.

Chad and Hayleigh Sherman arrived at the airport hours ahead of their flight, traveling with their other family members.

“We’re here very early today, four hours,” the daughter said.

When asked about the early arrival, her parents laughed and joked about whose idea it was, ultimately agreeing the extra time was worth it.

“It’s not small, but it’s good though, because you’re prepared,” one of them said.

Even with flight delays and longer security lines, many travelers said a little extra time at the airport was a small price to pay after the holidays.

Airport officials continue to urge passengers flying later today to check their flight status frequently and allow plenty of extra time before departure.
