INDIANAPOLIS — Each year, racing fans from around the country gather in Indianapolis for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” at the end of May.
This year, Carb Day attendees will be able to cheer on who they think will be the “Top Dog” in the first-ever “Wienie 500.”
According to a news release from Oscar Mayer, six Wienermobiles will race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 23. The race will be streamed live at 2 p.m. on May 23 via the FOX Sports app.

Officials said this is the first time all six Wienermobiles have come together in more than a decade. Each of the Wienermobiles will represent a regional dog, including:
- Chi Dog (Midwest)
- New York Dog (East)
- Slaw Dog (Southeast)
- Sonoran Dog (Southwest)
- Chili Dog (South)
- Seattle Dog (Northwest.)
The race will include custom Hotdogger racing suits, a trophy presentation in the “Wiener’s Circle,” a mustard spray and a hot dog for the winner’s enjoyment, the release said.
“The Indy 500 marks the unofficial kickoff of summer and the start of hot dog season,” Kelsey Rice, the brand communications director at Oscar Mayer, said in the release. “As a brand known for sparking smiles in disarmingly delightful ways, it’s only fitting that we bring a race of epic proportions to the Speedway and celebrate a timeless tradition: delicious meats and a little friendly competition to kick off a summer of wieners.”
This event is a part of a partnership between Oscar Mayer and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The release said that Oscar Mayer is the “official hot dog” of both the speedway and the Indianapolis 500.
Ahead of the race, fans will be able to head to the DraftKings website to enter the free-to-play pool and predict the outcome of this first-ever “Wienie 500.” For more information, and to play, click here.
