The film industry is mourning the loss of Oscar-nominated actress Diane Ladd, renowned for her roles in classics such as “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” and “Chinatown.” She passed away at the age of 89.

Ladd’s daughter, actress Laura Dern, shared the heartbreaking news of her mother’s passing with The Hollywood Reporter and the Los Angeles Times.

“This morning, my incredible mother and hero, Diane Ladd, passed away peacefully at her home in Ojai, California, with me by her side,” Dern expressed in her statement.

She continued, “She was the most extraordinary daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist, and a soul of empathy that seemed to be crafted from dreams.”
