CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — With prelims in girls Class 2A and 3A complete, the field is set for the final day of competition at the IHSA State Track Finals.
The Unity Rockets dominated the 2A field, with senior Ashlyn Denney advancing in the 800-meter race and contributing to the 4x400m relay. Three Rocket relay groups advanced to the finals.
Sacred Heart-Griffin took Heat 2 of the Class 2A 4x200m and automatically advanced to the finals with the fourth-best time.
Defending state champion Madalyn Marx is poised to race for another title, winning her 400m dash heat for Mahomet-Seymour and sitting as the top seed heading into the last day of competition.
The 3A relays saw exciting performances from Danville in the 4x100m and from Centennial in the 4x200m. Both groups advanced to finals.
