FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A woman from Palm Coast is now facing a lengthy prison sentence after admitting to the rape of a 13-year-old child, as reported by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
The harrowing incident came to light following a report received by deputies in January 2025, marking almost a year since the case first emerged.
Investigations revealed incriminating text messages exchanged between the 13-year-old victim and 26-year-old Angel Sexton. According to a detective involved, these communications highlighted how Sexton leveraged her relationship with the child to exploit him, including engaging in sexual activities.
The authorities’ release detailed that after the child returned home in January, Sexton continued to communicate with him through frequent text messages over several weeks. Alarmingly, she expressed intentions to leave her husband for the young victim.
Initially, during her interview with law enforcement, Sexton denied the sexual relationship with the minor. However, she eventually confessed to the crime and acknowledged her participation in the concerning text exchanges.
Sexton was ultimately arrested in St. Augustine for lewd and lascivious battery — a charge that she pleaded guilty to on Dec. 17, the sheriff’s office announced.

“This woman took the innocence away for a child for her own gratification, and I am glad that justice was served and that she is headed to prison,” Sheriff Rick Staly stated. “I commend the victim who put an end to her advances and spoke up, and thank our Major Case Unit and our partners at the State Attorney’s Office for their work on this case to put another perverted person behind bars.”
Sexton’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 20.
