BLUFFTON, S.C. — In a significant boost to public transportation, Palmetto Breeze proudly announced on Monday that it has acquired four brand-new 2024 Motor Coach Industries buses, courtesy of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT).
The addition of these state-of-the-art coaches comes at no cost to Palmetto Breeze, marking a pivotal upgrade for the service.
These modern buses will replace the older models currently in operation, promising enhanced reliability and comfort for daily commuters while ensuring that service standards remain high.
Importantly, this fleet update will not result in any reduction in services or staffing changes, allowing the organization to maintain its workforce and service routes seamlessly.
“These new buses empower us to refresh our fleet and continue providing reliable service to the communities we serve,” stated Charles Mitchell, LRTA Board Chair. “We are grateful for the ongoing support from SCDOT, which is crucial in helping Palmetto Breeze meet the daily transportation needs of our riders.”
The four coaches will be placed into service following standard inspections, technology setup, branding and operator training.
