AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Greater Augusta Arts Council has proudly introduced “Hydrangeas,” a trio of sculptures now gracing Pendleton King Park. This artistic addition is the creation of local talents Wesley L. Stewart and Colleen Beyer-Stewart from September Art Studios. Fashioned from steel and meticulously hand-painted, these sculptures capture the beauty of hydrangeas, a flower commonly found among the park’s lush gardens.
This unveiling of “Hydrangeas” is particularly significant as it’s the first new piece of public art to be installed since Pendleton King Park reopened following the devastation of Hurricane Helene. It symbolizes the dawn of what is hoped to evolve into a future sculpture trail within the park.
The Arts Council emphasized that this installation is a testament to themes of renewal, resilience, and growth, bolstering Augusta’s ever-growing public art scene.
Visitors can find Pendleton King Park at 1600 Troupe Street in Augusta, Ga. The park welcomes guests daily, operating from 8 a.m. until dusk during summer months, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the winter.
