The Pentagon is repositioning a carrier strike group from the South China Sea to the U.S. Central Command’s jurisdiction, which includes the Middle East, as tensions rise between the Trump administration and Iran, according to NewsNation sources.

This strategic movement, involving a naval formation centered around an aircraft carrier and including a variety of other vessels such as at least one attack submarine, is anticipated to take roughly a week. The USS Abraham Lincoln is reportedly the aircraft carrier involved in this redeployment.

The relocation of such significant U.S. military assets occurs against a backdrop of increasing unrest in Iran, where recent protests have raised questions about the potential for White House support against Iran’s authoritarian government.
