TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Titusville police say they arrested a man accused of attempted murder just hours after responding to the shooting he’s being tied to.

Officers responded around 4:17 a.m. Saturday to a shooting reported out of the area of the intersection of Garden Street and South Grannis Avenue, locating a man suffering from gunshot wounds, the Titusville Police Department said in a news release. The officers performed life-saving measures for the man until paramedics arrived to transport him to a hospital, where he’s expected to survive his injuries, the release states.

Working on vital information that detectives quickly obtained, a suspect was identified and arrested, police said. The suspect — 33-year-old Calvin Woodson — was found in less than two hours, the release states.

Woodson faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said, adding he’s being held at the Brevard County Detention Center on a no bond status at the time of this report.

In a statement, Titusville police Commander Wright said that his agency wanted to thank local businesses for investing in security cameras.

“Your commitment to safety played a vital role in helping us quickly identify and apprehend the suspect in this violent crime. This partnership is a powerful example of how technology and working together can make our community safer,” Wright said.

Anyone with additional information related to the case is asked to submit tips by calling 321-567-3900 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
