BVPD: Traffic stop leads officers to find over one pound of meth

BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) —A man was arrested late Monday afternoon in Bristol, Virginia following a traffic stop, during which officers reportedly found more than a pound of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

According to a news release from the Bristol Virginia Police Department (BVPD), Sgt. Mark Edwards conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Euclid Ave and Piedmont Ave at around 5:14 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Christopher Jones, 46, of Bristol, Va. He was found to have an active warrant for violation of probation, according to the release.

After searching Jones’ vehicle, police found “approximately 1 1/2 pounds of methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia,” the release states.

Jones was transported to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail and served an outstanding warrant, charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I or II drug and received several traffic violations.

Jones was being held under a $3,500 bond, according to the release.
