BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — The Bristol, Virginia Police Department (BVPD) is urging people to be on the lookout and careful as it searches for a shooting suspect.
According to the BVPD, authorities attempted to serve arrest warrants on Harley Pope, 37, of Bristol, Virginia, on Wednesday.
Detectives and Washington County deputies attempted to serve Pope near Dixie St. and Corporation St. However, Pope reportedly ran from a home on Dixie St. when he saw officers.
The BVPD stated in a news release that Pope is wanted for the following charges:
- Aggravated malicious wounding
- Firing into an occupied dwelling
- Reckless handling of a firearm

His charges stem from a shooting on April 5, during which a Bristol, Virginia man was injured.
As of Wednesday morning, a search for Pope was underway. The BVPD, Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and Bristol, Tennessee Police Department are all searching for him.
The BVPD stated that Pope should be considered armed and dangerous, and people in the area should use “extreme caution.”
