GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. () – The Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) has arrested one individual in connection with a March 16 shooting at the Royal Inn on New Jesup Highway.
On Thursday, March 20, officers from GCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) arrested Maliek Palmer in connection with the shooting.
At approximately 4:24 a.m. on March 16, GCPD officers responded to the Royal Inn after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the male victim had been shot multiple times.
He was initially transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. The injuries he sustained were not life-threatening, and he is currently recovering.
Palmer was arrested when GCPD officers arrived at a business on Gateway Center Boulevard and he unsuccessfully tried to flee the scene. GCPD officers took Palmer into custody and he was transported to GCPD headquarters, interviewed, and then transported to the Glynn County Detention Center.
Palmer had confirmed felony warrants for:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Firearm during a Commission of Certain Crimes
He also has a misdemeanor warrant for Reckless Conduct related to the March 16, Royal Inn shooting.
In addition, he faced a separate felony Probation Violation warrant on an original charge of Statutory Rape.
