KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Kingsport Police Department (KPD) is investigating after a man and woman were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds.

According to a news release from the KPD, officers were called to the 3100 block of Tiffany Court for a disturbance at 8:36 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2024.

Before officers arrived, “a third party” entered the home and found the man and woman unresponsive on the floor.

Officers arrived, and both people were pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The KPD reports both suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, and a firearm was found inside the home. The firearm was collected as potential evidence.

Police identified the woman as Mikayla Sandusky, 25, of Oak Ridge, and the man as Dillion Prater, 27, of Johnson City.

The bodies will be sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy.

The KPD believes the deaths to be an isolated incident. As of Tuesday, the investigation remains ongoing.
