SPD investigating shooting in 700 block of E. 53rd St.

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – The Savannah Police Department (SPD) is investigating a shooting in the 700 block of E. 53rd St. that left an adult male with serious injuries.

At approximately 2:55 a.m. on May 19, SPD responded to a ShotSpotter alert. Once on the scene, officers discovered a female adult victim who stated someone had entered her residence and started shooting.

While on the scene, officers received a report of an adult male suspect arriving at Memorial Health University Medical Center with gunshot wounds. 

During the initial investigation, officers stopped Jamile Pointer, 19, near the crime scene and found he was in possession of a firearm. After being detained and questioned, Pointer was arrested and charged with burglary.
