Kingsport PD: Pursuit of attempted murder suspect ends in crash

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man was arrested Friday after a standoff in the early morning hours, according to the Kingsport Police Department (KPD).

KPD officers were called to the 1800 block of Rock Springs Road around 3 a.m. Friday, after receiving a call about an armed man allegedly threatening others.

A KPD news release identified the man as Steven Gott, 27.

According to police, Gott “refused to comply with lawful orders to surrender himself to officers on scene.”

The KPD’s SWAT Team was activated and arrested Gott.

Gott was charged with aggravated domestic assault and aggravated assault. As of Friday afternoon, he was being held in the Kingsport City Jail.
