Storm Team 3: More storms possible Wednesday through Friday

A few strong and severe storms were rolling through some of our inland counties Tuesday evening.

Reidsville Airport had a 55-mph wind gust and there were reports of tree damage in southern Tattnall County.

Some thunderstorms and pockets of heavy rain will continue into the overnight, but conditions will be mainly dry as we get closer to sunrise on Wednesday.

Overall storm chances on Wednesday will be lower than what we had Tuesday. However, a low-end risk for a few isolated strong or severe storms will be possible.

As a nearly stationary boundary is over the region, we will continue to have rain shower and thunderstorm chances in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Storm chances will be elevated for Thursday and Friday.

A few isolated strong and severe storms are possible each day.

Damaging wind and hail will remain the primary threats Wednesday through Friday with any severe storms.

Drier weather finally returns for us over the weekend as a weak cold front sweeps off of the coast Friday and into Saturday.

This front will set us up for breezy and gusty conditions even without severe storms on Friday. Weekend high temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Next week is looking to start out mainly dry and hot with afternoon highs getting back into the upper 80s to lower 90s.
