JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Power has been successfully restored to most of the residents in Jacksonville who experienced an outage on Saturday.
By approximately 3 p.m., the power disruption on Morton Avenue, which had left hundreds in the dark, was no longer listed on the Ameren Outage Map.
WCIA contacted the Jacksonville/Morgan County Emergency Management Agency for further details but had not received a response at the time of publication.
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — On Saturday afternoon, a storm caused significant power issues for hundreds in Jacksonville, as a power pole was snapped in two.
The Jacksonville/Morgan County EMA shared in a Facebook post that the damage was reported on the west end of Morton Avenue.
The Ameren Outage Map further showed starting around 12:30 p.m., hundreds of customers are without power in that area, with the cause listed as “pole damage.”
Several business were affected by the outage, and the entrance to the city’s Walmart is blocked off at this time, the EMA said.
“Please avoid the area to allow emergency crews and utility personnel room to work safely,” officials added.
WCIA reached out to the Jacksonville/Morgan County EMA for more information but did not immediately hear back. We will share updates as we learn more.
