SWAINSBORO, Ga. () — Residents of Swainsboro and surrounding areas are invited to attend a public meeting with Georgia Power, aimed at shedding light on the proposed high-voltage transmission line project scheduled for discussion later this month.
Georgia Power has already started reaching out to property owners whose land might be impacted by the 75-mile Hatch–Wadley 500-kilovolt Transmission Line Project. These notices are meant to inform residents of possible implications on their properties. However, the invitation extends to anyone within the community who takes an interest in this significant infrastructure project.
This important community meeting is set for Wednesday, July 15, and will take place at The Nordson Center, 210 W. Moring St. in Swainsboro. To accommodate as many residents as possible, Georgia Power has organized two sessions:

Georgia Power says the project is designed to help meet growing electricity demand.
The Emanuel County Board of Commissioners said the meeting is being organized and hosted by Georgia Power, not the county.
County leaders said some commissioners may attend the public meeting because of community interest in the project. Since a quorum of the board could be present, the county issued a public notice. Officials said no county business will be discussed, and no official action will be taken.
The board said it is encouraging residents to attend to learn more about the proposal, whether they may be directly affected or simply want more information.
