ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunday brought warm temperatures across central Florida, with highs climbing into the upper 80s to low 90s.

Scattered showers rolled in, some packing heavy rain that lingered into the evening. Rainfall totals varied across central Florida with some spots seeing over an inch of rain, while others recorded less.

Tonight’s lows will remain muggy, settling in the mid-to-upper 70s under partly cloudy skies.

As kids head back to school this week, mornings at the bus stop will start off dry but humid, so lightweight, breathable clothing is a good idea.

By late afternoon, scattered downpours are likely across the interior, meaning umbrellas and rain jackets will come in handy for the trip home. Some heavy, slow-moving storms could lead to minor flooding, much like over the weekend.

As for the tropics, the National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring Invest 97L, an area of low pressure near the Cabo Verde Islands. There’s a 60% chance of development into a tropical depression within 48 hours, and a 90% chance over the next seven days. While it may organize enough to become Tropical Depression Five or even Tropical Storm Erin by mid-week, its eventual path—and whether it impacts any land—remains uncertain.
