HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. () — A major economic driver in the Lowcountry, the RBC Heritage, will be sticking around for years to come after confirming a sponsorship deal Monday.
The PGA Tour and RBC announced that RBC signed a multi-year extension of the bank’s title sponsorship.
RBC has been the title sponsor since 2012, but recent contracts were signed for one year at a time. Tournament Director Steve Wilmot said the long-term partnership provides stability and a strong foundation for the event’s future.
“We’re able to plan ahead of time,” Wilmot said. “You look into accommodations, you look into the site, the build of concessions for your food and beverage. There’s a lot of things that go with it that we can play in looking at it long term now instead of a year to year.”
The Lowcountry stop on the PGA Tour generated about $250 million in economic impact for the local community last year.
“It’s a win win for all of us and we’ll be able to continue to do we do from the charitable perspective, but also the economic impact as well, which is the economic impact in this community,” Wilmot said.
The RBC Heritage Tournament is set to kick off at Harbour Town on April 16, the week after the Master’s.
The sponsorship extension also applies to the RBC Candian Open, a spokesperson said.
