AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office released details on how it is preparing to ensure a “safe and festive” Fourth of July celebration in Augusta.

The annual City of Augusta Independence Day Celebration will be held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Augusta Common. Festivities begin at 5 p.m., and the fireworks show starts at approximately 9:30 p.m. launched from the Riverwalk between 8th and 9th Streets.

The sheriff’s office said it plans to deploy approximately 65 plain clothes officers in the downtown event area, in addition to road patrol deputies and other personnel working in the county. A minimum of two deputies are also being placed in each block downtown until 3 a.m.

In addition to RCSO, the Augusta Fire Department, Central EMS, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia and South Carolina Departments of Natural Resources, and North Augusta Public Safety are expected to be on hand to assist with emergency response and public safety operations.

Traffic updates can be found RCSO social media channels.

Any lost children will be taken to Room 102 of the Riverwalk Special Events Building.

“Our team, along with our public safety partners, will be out in full force to ensure this is a fun, family-friendly evening for everyone,” said Sheriff Eugene Brantley.
