ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida saw a massive influx of shoppers on Black Friday, with stores packed as crowds took advantage of the weekend’s shopping bonanza.

At Orlando International Premium Outlets, eager customers formed lines well before the doors opened in the early morning hours.

“We made the trip all the way from Gainesville, leaving at midnight because we were so excited,” shared Maitrey Phatak. “Waking up early, hanging out with friends, and snagging great bargains is what it’s all about.”

The National Retail Federation predicted that 186.9 million Americans would participate in the holiday shopping spree, up by 3.5 million from the previous year.

This season is poised to set a new record for the five-day shopping period stretching from Thanksgiving through to Cyber Monday.

“Last year was not as busy, so I think the crowds are coming back finally after COVID,” a shopper said. “You know, we’re getting back out there.”

The federation also estimated that average spending on gifts and holiday items would reach $890 per person. Among a poll of 8,427 people, nearly two-thirds said they would wait for Thanksgiving weekend deals, which was up from 59% in 2024.

“It means a lot because you’re struggling to feed your family,” Kasandra Cole said. “Everything saved makes a difference.”

The Orlando International Premium Outlets extended its hours for holiday shopping. For more details, visit this website.
