AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A unique event happening now where if you donate blood, you can get free botox.

Botox for Blood is an annual event hosted by Shepeard Community Blood Center and Southern Dermatology.

Participants of the event will receive a $150 gift certificate to use for Botox or a similar cosmetic treatment.

The first two years, the event was only three days, but organizers had to expand it to four due to popularity.

“This is going to be a record year for us, I can already tell from the response we’re seeing. The last day is always the busiest and so we’re looking to really bring it home tomorrow with a home run and really get that blood supply going into the weekend. It’s not just about the Independence Day holiday but the rest of the summer as well,” said Benjamin Prijatel, President and CEO of Shepeard Community Blood Center.

A resident we spoke with says she donates blood on a regular basis but always participates in Botox for Blood.

“That just sweetened it for me. I come in when they do have this special and I love it, everybody likes to get a little gift when they come in regardless of if it’s just for a cookie or something but it’s giving to the community, I love that they do it for Botox and I love to give blood,” Jennifer Jackson said.

Jackson says doing a small act can make a big difference.

“Anytime we give to the community regardless, however you do it, it’s important and I love that, that’s what really draws me in to begin with, just giving to our community and being there for others,” said Jackson.

Nearly 300 people have already donated, if you wish to donate you can go to any Shepeard Community Blood Center.

The Botox for Blood event ends July 3rd.
