SAVANNAH, Ga. () — It’s been five years since the murder of Ahmuad Arbery, a 25 year old black man who was murdered during a racially motivated hate crime while jogging.

It was a video that outraged a community and a nation.

Ahmaud Arbery was seen taking a morning run in Satilla Shores, a neighborhood near Brunswick, Ga. He was ambushed by men in a truck who eventually ran him down and killed him.

The men responsible, Gregory and Travis McMichale and their neighbor, William Roddie Bryan, jr., were eventually caught, tried and convicted.

The annual Ahmaud Arbery 5k run and walk, hosted by the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation, is taking place today from 12 until 2 p.m. in Atlanta. The family asks that at 1:14 p.m., the time Arbery took his last breath, you join them in a moment of silence for 23 seconds.
