Reidsville City councilman arrested, charged with DUI

REIDSVILLE, Ga. () — A Reidsville City Councilman was arrested on several charges, including driving under the influence Tuesday, according to his booking report.

Pharis Daniel Bennett, also known as Dan, was reportedly arrested on six charges by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Reidsville post.

According to Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) records, he was charged with serious injury by vehicle, speeding in excess of maximum limits, DUI, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and a seatbelt violation.

Bennett allegedly spent one day in the Tattnall County jail and was released on an $8,000 bond Tuesday.

According to a social media post made by Reidsville Mayor Vickie Nail, the crash occurred on May 4. She said that Bennett was injured and unconscious for a period of time.

At least one other person was injured, according to Nail’s post.

Bennett was reportedly sworn into his position as a councilman on April 11.
