In Bryan County, Georgia, a police officer from the Richmond Hill Police Department (RHPD) has been formally charged following accusations of sexual misconduct that surfaced in June.
Robert Edward Littlejohn, aged 56 and a resident of Richmond Hill, faces an indictment by a Bryan County Grand Jury. The charges against him include bribery, violating his oath as a public officer, and making false statements.
The situation unfolded on June 26, when the RHPD sought the expertise of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) after allegations against Sergeant Littlejohn came to light on June 21. He was accused of engaging in sexual misconduct and extortion.
According to findings from the GBI, Littlejohn allegedly approached an individual he had previously arrested, proposing to assist in having their criminal charges dropped in exchange for sexual favors.
The GBI clarified that the charges against the individual in question were not connected to this case. It was reported that Littlejohn made contact with the individual after they were released from custody.
Littlejohn turned himself in to the Bryan County Jail, said officials. However, records show that Littlejohn was released a day later on a $10,000 bond.
