An early morning blaze in Rincon necessitated emergency response, sending an elderly woman to Augusta’s renowned burn center for treatment.
At around 4:11 a.m. on Sunday, the Rincon Police Department and the Rincon Fire Department were called to the scene of a house fire on South Howard Street. Upon arrival, they were informed of a dire situation—a woman was trapped inside the burning building.
The fire crews swiftly located the woman, who was trapped in a bedroom. During the intense rescue efforts, a sudden flash of flames resulted in a firefighter sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Despite the challenges posed by the fire’s unpredictable nature, the brave responders managed to extricate the woman from the perilous situation.
After her rescue, the elderly woman was promptly taken to the Augusta Burn Center, where she would receive specialized care. Meanwhile, the injured firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital for a thorough evaluation.
