Rio Grande Apartment Evacuated and Condemned Following Intense Two-Alarm Fire

ORLANDO, Fla. – A fierce blaze in Orlando on Friday resulted in a two-alarm fire that rendered an entire apartment building uninhabitable, leaving several people temporarily homeless, according to the Orlando Fire Department.

The fire erupted on the second story of the complex located at 2994 S. Rio Grande Ave., but swift action from the firefighting teams ensured it was quickly brought under control and fully extinguished, with no injuries reported.

Entire building condemned after blaze

Following the incident, Code Enforcement declared the entire building condemned, extending beyond the units that directly suffered damage from the fire.

Currently, nine adults and a child have been confirmed as displaced. However, as Orlando Fire Department continues notifying residents, this number might increase.

Red Cross working to find temporary housing

Collaborative efforts among the Orlando Fire Department, property management, and the Red Cross are ongoing to ascertain the total number of those affected and arrange suitable interim accommodation.
