Domestic violence deaths increasing in Illinois

ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence has released its annual homicide report, revealing a concerning trend for 2024. The report highlights a 14% rise in deaths related to domestic violence compared to the previous year.

In 2024, Illinois witnessed 137 fatalities across 97 domestic violence situations, a significant increase from the 120 deaths in 90 incidents reported in 2023.

This uptick is being observed by various organizations throughout Central Illinois, including Dove Incorporated in Decatur.
