AUGUSTA, Ga. () — An annual benefit concert is set to support the Augusta Jewish Museum. Russell Joel Brown will bring “Over the Rainbow: A Celebration of Jewish Singers Songwriters” to the Maxwell Theatre on February 2.
Brown shared his excitement, saying, “I’m excited to be sharing this music because as I started researching for the show, there were so many artists that I love whom I didn’t know were Jewish. One of the ways that we are going to become a better world and a closer world is to learn more about each other. And what better way is there than music?”
The performance will feature 23 songs in just over an hour, ranging from classics by Barbra Streisand and Stephen Sondheim to surprising artists like Steely Dan and James Taylor. Brown will be joined by a six-piece band, including Linwood Holmes and Dr. Rosalyn Floyd on grand piano.
Brown is also incorporating advanced technical elements at the Maxwell Theatre for the first time, utilizing projections and original videos to enhance the experience.
Tickets are available now at augustajewishmuseum.org or via the Maxwell Theatre’s website.
Proceeds will benefit the Augusta Jewish Museum, helping to preserve and share the rich history of Jewish culture in Augusta.
