The Salvation Army of Johnson City wrapped up its Mission Essential: More Than a Bed Campaign with the Champions of Hope Fundraiser held on Thursday in Jonesborough, Tenn. The event marked the successful conclusion of a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting the organization’s West Walnut Street shelter.
The campaign, which began in July, focused on generating resources for the shelter’s diverse services, including healthcare access, job training, and connecting individuals with vital resources. The effort underscores the shelter’s commitment to providing comprehensive support to those in need.
“Our primary focus is on our shelter at the moment,” explained Corps Officer Major R.C. Duskin. “This includes various components, whether it’s serving veterans, managing our emergency and white flag shelters, or offering additional services like a food pantry and utility assistance. All the funds go directly back into the community to provide essential support.”
