TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. () — Spectacular sand art awaits! The SCAD Sand Arts Festival returns to Tybee Island Friday.
SCAD students and alumni will transform Tybee’s South Beach into a one-day-only sculpture gallery. Teams of talented artists will compete in categories like Sandcastle, Sand Relief, Sand Jam and SCAD Spirit.
Now in its 23rd year, the festival began in the 1990s when SCAD architecture classes would compete against each other to construct three-dimensional sand sculptures. This festival is now one of the most popular local events!
The festival is at the South Beach Pier and Pavilion from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
