SANFORD, Fla. – Law enforcement officials have successfully apprehended a man sought in connection with a murder case originating from Riviera Beach earlier this year.

Riviera Beach police have identified the suspect as 30-year-old Alphonso Lingo, who was wanted for allegedly shooting 61-year-old Lorenzo Pugh on the morning of August 21, as stated in their release.

Officers responding to a 911 hang-up call discovered Pugh deceased inside a residence, confirming his death at the scene, they reported.

Subsequent investigations led authorities to suspect Lingo, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant in September. It was thought that he might be concealing himself within Central Florida.

However, police announced on Wednesday morning that Lingo had been located in Sanford and was arrested at the Seminole Gardens Apartments on West 5 Street.

“The tenacious work by our detectives and support from the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force culminated with the arrest of a violent convicted felon, who is now off the streets and can be brought to justice,” Police Chief Michael Coleman said.

Lingo is held without bond on charges of second-degree murder with a firearm and possession of a firearm/ammunition by a felon, pending extradition to Palm Beach County.
