SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Arguably, the top game in the state of Georgia tomorrow for high school basketball will happen in the Hostess City: No. 1 McIntosh County Academy vs No. 2 Savannah High.
If the first matchup is any indication of what is in store, spectators will want to get to the gym early. These two teams played back on Jan. 7in Darien, Ga. The game was a one-point victory for McIntosh, 48-47.
Since then, Savannah High has won eight of their last nine outings, including their last six in a row. It will also be senior night for the Bluejackets.
“Another game to us,” Savannah High boys’ basketball coach George Brown said. “We’re preparing the same. I mean, I don’t think that there’s a whole lot we need to change. I wish my kids energy was a little more there that last time we played.”
Senior point guard Maki Joyner said, “Coach Brown said he was going treat this one like a state championship game. So that’s how we have to treat it. The way we play right now, I feel like us going into that game is going to be a little breeze, but we can’t take anybody lightly and especially not them just because we already lost to them.”
Tipoff for the game scheduled on Feb. 4 is 7:30 p.m.
