SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Savannah State football team has completed two weeks of spring practice as they get ready for the fall season.
Head coach Aaron Kelton said he has seen his team grow and learn a lot this spring.
The big question for the Tigers this upcoming season is who will be at quarterback. Last year’s starter Jhaydon Sullivan graduated.
This spring, Coach Kelton said he has five quarterbacks vying for the position. Four of those quarterbacks were on last year’s roster. Fabian Walker is the only fresh face. He came from Iowa Western Community College, but is a native of Chamblee, Ga., which is in the Atlanta area.
Coach Kelton said he will not make a decision on the starter until a later date.
“It’ll be open competition to till we figure it out,” Kelton said. “Going into the fall we will bring another guy or two in just to create the battles. We want to make sure we got the right guy.”
Coach Kelton also said Islands alum Jadon Adam has moved to wide receiver and is excelling so far in the transition.
The Orange and Blue Spring game is March 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
