SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Savannah State women’s basketball team looks to pick up its first win of the new year as they continue conference play against Albany State this weekend.

Recently, the women have struggled. They lost their last three games, which includes the most contest against Tuskegee.

In that game, Savannah State led by four at the break, but they were outscored, 35-22, in the second half.

Savannah State is currently 2-5 in the East Division, which is tied for last place. But the Tigers feel they can turn things around.

“I think understanding roles, everybody understands their assignment,” senior forward Kayla Grant said. “Everybody has an assignment. I think we’re starting to learn what everybody’s assignment is and how we can get it done. And then you can still do more. It’s not you’re just not limited to that one role.”

Savannah State will play at Albany State, who also only has East Division wins, on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.
