SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Once people were set in their spots to watch the parade, they started breaking out the food they’ve prepared.
It’s certainly an all-day affair, so people want to make sure they’re well feed and hydrated. Many bringing their entire pantries and refrigerators with them.
“A hodge-podge… everything from hotdogs, I’m sure some Chick-Fil-A will show up at some point. We got some fruit trays and cookies for the kids, so it will be a good time,” Edwin Molina said.
One group, the Finn McCool family, fed 196 people total.
“And this group right here you won’t believe it… they are feeding 196 people.
“We come out here every year. We’ve been doing this actually for 10 years,” Sal Macaluso said.
Macaluso was in charge of making grits for the affair, a challenge he was up for.
“They were unbelievable! But we had regular breakfast. Boy these guys can eat bacon, sausage, all kinds of stuff,” Macaluso said.
One group even brought cookbooks with them.
“You open up to page 180 and of course you see beef wellington,” Bob Klein said.
Wheeler Flemming said, “Bob and his friend are actually cooking it. And they’re bringing it in later on.”
The festivities don’t end downtown. Many people told that they’re eating the traditional corned beef and cabbage when they get home.
