The St. Petersburg chapter of the League of Women Voters is urging the U.S. Senate to steer clear of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, also known as the SAVE America Act.

This legislation, which cleared the U.S. House nearly two weeks ago, mandates the presentation of a photo ID for voting—a requirement already enforced in Florida. Additionally, the act stipulates that individuals must provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
