COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – South Carolina Task Force 1 has returned home after two weeks of working in flood-impacted areas of Texas.

The team of five, along with their two human remains detection K-9s, returned to the South Carolina State Fire campus on Wednesday.

They worked to support search and rescue efforts along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, along with teams from Oklahoma and Colorado.

According to SC State Fire, the team members came from various first responder agencies, including Greenville County EMS, Lexington County Fire Service, SC State Fire, and SC Foothills Search & Rescue.

Governor Henry McMaster deployed the teams around July 8 to help with response and recovery efforts at the request of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

“Team South Carolina stands ready to offer any support we can,” said Gov. McMaster when announcing the deployment earlier this month. “In some of our toughest moments, the people of Texas were there for us. Now, it’s our duty to return that support and stand by our friends in their time of need.”

Texas sent teams and resources to South Carolina to assist in the wake of Hurricane Halene last year.
