SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) sent out a release Thursday to address rumors of a weapon at Jenkins High School that led to a precautionary lockdown.

The school was placed on a lockdown out of precaution after a call was received claiming a student was walking around with a weapon.

Campus Police conducted a search and deemed the threat was not credible.

SCCPSS said, “Please know that school staff and campus police take these situations very seriously. The incident last week was handled in the same manner and students who make any type of threat toward a school or who bring unapproved items on school grounds face consequences as outlined in our Student Code of Conduct and could face further consequences from law enforcement.”

SCCPSS said that there is no information to indicate a threat toward Jenkins High School. Students and staff are encouraged to speak up if they see anything out of the ordinary.
