BRISTOL, Tenn. — Authorities in Sullivan County are on the hunt for a man accused of committing aggravated animal cruelty following the fatal shooting of a dog, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.
According to officials, Russell Metcalf, 64, a resident of Sharps Creek Road in Bristol, faces charges after allegedly shooting a dog on the roadside, resulting in the animal’s death. The incident reportedly took place last Saturday.
Surveillance footage provided by the sheriff’s office captures a man on a motorcycle approaching the location where the dog was found. The footage allegedly shows the individual, identified as Metcalf, drawing a handgun while wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet.
Investigators were able to trace the motorcycle’s registration the following day, which led them to identify Metcalf as the suspect in the case.
The sheriff’s office is actively searching for Metcalf and is appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 423-279-7330.
