SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two employees at Romantic Escapades Adult Superstore in Kingsport were cited after an investigation into complaints of alleged prostitution and sexual acts, police report.
According to a news release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), an investigation regarding the store began after “numerous complaints from the community that alleged prostitution and sexual acts were occurring.”
The complaints reportedly claimed that prostitution and sexual acts were occurring within theatre rooms where pornographic content was being shown during business hours, the SCSO reported. Other complaints alleged that patrons visiting the theatre had been exposed to sexually transmitted infections.
“The investigation conducted by detectives determined that the allegations contained in the citizen complaints were occurring within the business,” the SCSO stated in the release.
On Monday, two employees were issued citations for prohibited activities, according to the SCSO.
The investigation determined that patrons visiting the theatre rooms would reportedly pay a fee to enter a closed section of the business. Within the section, there were five single-person viewing rooms and three larger theatre rooms for multiple people with couches, chairs and large screens.
