SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Honaker, Virginia, man was arrested Wednesday after a series of alleged burglaries in the Sullivan County area.

A release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said Stephen Thompson, 38, was arrested in Bristol, Virginia, by the Bristol, Virginia, Police Department (BVPD).

According to the SCSO, the arrest follows a series of “daylight burglaries” in Sullivan County. A social media post from the SCSO on Tuesday said Thompson was allegedly posing as a handyman or a contractor.

The release said BVPD officers obtained a warrant charging Thompson with aggravated burglary and aggravated trespassing.

He was transported to the Southwest Regional Jail in Abingdon, Virginia, and will be returned to Tennessee once the extradition process occurs, the release said.

Additional charges against Thompson are pending, according to the SCSO.

The SCSO thanked the BVPD for its assistance.
