CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — With an impressive 35 victories under their belt, the Parkland Cobras baseball team is set to dive into the postseason.
This team, characterized by its tight-knit bond, is comprised of players who, despite the transient nature of junior college athletics, have forged connections resembling those of a four-year institution.
“I have a deep affection for every member of this team. Our close camaraderie is, in my view, our greatest asset, allowing us to support one another consistently,” shared infielder Jayden Patel.
Since April began, Parkland has posted an impressive 19-4 record, hitting their peak performance just ahead of the Region 24 Championship.
“Each player has the guarantee of at least two more games together,” expressed head coach and Parkland Baseball alumnus, Zack Pych. “Their love for one another fuels their competitive spirit. Let’s see where it takes us.”
Play begins in the region tournament on Friday, May 8, as Parkland takes on Vincennes University at 9 a.m.
